The Goldfish Who Could Fly
In a small blue bowl on a windowsill, there lived a goldfish named Finley. Finley was not like other goldfish. While they swam in circles dreaming of fish flakes, Finley dreamed of the sky.
Every morning, a little girl named Lily would feed Finley and tell him stories. One day, she dropped something small and orange into his bowl. It wasn't a flake. It was a magical vitamin from her mother's bottle—a special one that shimmered like a tiny star.
Finley nibbled it cautiously. Suddenly, he felt a tingle in his fins. He swam faster than ever before, creating sparkling bubbles that danced upward. When Finley jumped to catch a bubble, something amazing happened—he didn't fall back into the water! He floated, glowing softly, like a living balloon.
Outside, a storm was gathering. Dark clouds rolled across the sky, and Finley watched in wonder as lightning cracked through the darkness like brilliant silver veins. He had never seen anything so beautiful and powerful.
That night, Finley heard a tiny sniffle. Lily was crying because her cat, Mittens, was stuck in a tree outside, too scared to climb down during the storm.
Finley knew what he had to do. With his new magical floating power, he swam right through his bowl's surface and into the air! He floated out the open window, his golden scales gleaming in the dark.
High in the oak tree, Mittens meowed pitifully as rain began to fall. Finley swam through the air to the lowest branch and called, "Don't be scared, Mittens! Follow me!" His scales glowed like a tiny lantern, lighting the way.
Just then, another flash of lightning illuminated the whole yard. But this time, Mittens wasn't afraid. She saw Finley's golden light and followed it, branch by branch, until she safely reached the ground.
Lily rushed out and hugged her cat tight. She saw Finley floating overhead and gasped in delight. From that day on, Finley wasn't just a goldfish in a bowl. He was Finley the Brave, the magical floating friend who proved that even the smallest creatures can have the biggest hearts.
And sometimes, on stormy nights, if you look carefully at the sky, you might still see a tiny golden light dancing among the lightning bolts—Finley, having one more wonderful adventure.
