The Goldfish Who Could Fly
Tilly was a small goldfish with orange scales like tiny sunsets. She lived in a round glass bowl on a messy desk, watching the world go by. Every day, the boy named Leo would drop green flakes into her bowl—spinach flakes, he called them. They looked like miniature leaves from a magic forest.
One evening, as Tilly nibbled her dinner, something strange happened. A bolt of lightning flashed outside the window, making her bowl glow like a lantern. Tilly felt a tingle in her fins. Suddenly, she could understand the whispers of the wind through the windowsill.
"Please," the wind sighed. "My friend the lightning bug is lost in the rain. Can you help?"
Tilly swam to the surface of her bowl. "But I'm just a goldfish in a bowl. What can I do?"
"You ate the spinach flakes," the wind replied. "They come from the moon garden where magic grows. You're special now."
Gathering her courage, Tilly leaped from her bowl. She didn't fall—instead, she floated, sparkling like the lightning that danced outside. Through a crack in the window, she swam through the rainy sky, her scales glowing golden.
She found the lightning bug huddled on a wet leaf, its light flickering weakly. "Don't worry," Tilly bubbled. "I'll help you."
Gently, she nudged the little bug onto her back and carried it home. When they arrived, the lightning bug's family flashed with gratitude, creating a beautiful light show.
"Thank you," the bug said. "You're not just any goldfish. You're a true friend."
Tilly returned to her bowl just as Leo came into the room. He stared in wonder at the tiny gold leaf now resting beside her glass home—a gift from the lightning bug family.
From that day on, Tilly knew that even the smallest creatures can do big things. And whenever lightning flashed across the sky, she'd smile, remembering the night a little goldfish discovered that real magic comes from kindness and courage.
