The Goldfish Who Could Fly
Lily pressed her palm against the cool glass of her bedroom aquarium, watching her friend Goldie swim in lazy circles. Goldie was no ordinary goldfish — he had shimmering scales that changed color like a sunset, from pink to orange to deep purple.
"I wish you could see the world," Lily whispered, blowing gently on the water's surface.
Goldie swam to the top and looked at her with his big, curious eyes. Something magical sparkled between them. In that moment, a tiny glowing cable appeared, connecting Lily's heart to Goldie's — a friendship bond that pulsed with golden light.
Suddenly, Goldie leaped right out of the water! But instead of flopping on the floor, he began to float, swimming through the air as if it were made of invisible ocean currents. His fins became wings that shimmered like stardust.
"Come with me, Lily!" Goldie seemed to say without speaking.
Lily opened her window, and together they soared into the night sky. Goldie showed her secret worlds hidden in the clouds — cities made of crystal where starfish played tag, and rivers of moonlight that flowed backward. They danced with fireflies who sang tiny lullabies.
"The world is so beautiful," Goldie said, his voice sounding like wind chimes. "Thank you for being my friend."
They flew back just as the sun began to paint the sky. Goldie splashed back into his aquarium, now swimming with extra joy. The glowing cable between them remained, invisible but strong — a reminder that true friendship can make impossible things possible.
From that day on, Lily knew that with imagination and love, even a small goldfish could fly, and every friend could show you a different kind of magic.
