The Goldfish Who Could Fly
Lily loved two things more than anything else: her bright orange hair that bounced like sunshine when she ran, and the old pond behind her house where the water sparkled like diamonds every morning.
One Tuesday, while dangling her feet in the cool water, something magical happened. A tiny goldfish with scales like tiny golden coins popped its head above the surface and looked right at her.
"Hello!" said the goldfish. "My name is Finn, and I've been waiting for someone like you."
Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"
"I can do more than talk," Finn said proudly. "Watch this!" And with a little wiggle of his tail, he leaped right out of the water and started swimming through the air like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"That's AMAZING!" Lily cheered, her orange hair dancing in the breeze. "Can I come too?"
Finn nodded. "Hold onto my fin and believe."
Together they soared above the treetops, with Finn gliding through the air and Lily laughing with pure joy. They saw birds building nests, clouds shaped like ice cream cones, and a fox having a nap in the sunshine.
But soon Finn started to droop. "The air is too dry for me," he said sadly. "I need my water."
Lily didn't hesitate. She dove toward the pond, pulling Finn safely into the cool blue water just in time.
"Thank you, Lily," Finn said, swimming in happy circles around her ankles. "You saved me. That's what friends do—they help each other, no matter what."
Lily smiled, touching her orange hair that now glittered with tiny scales from their adventure. "Every afternoon after school, I'll visit you. We can swim together—you in the water, me in the air beside you!"
And that's exactly what they did. Because the best adventures aren't just about flying high or doing magic tricks. They're about finding someone who understands your heart, even if they're a fish and you're a girl with very orange hair.
