The Goldfish Who Could Dream
Leo loved **running** through the park, feeling the wind rush past his ears like a secret whisper. But lately, running wasn't enough. Leo felt lonely in his new house, far from his old friends and familiar streets.
One rainy afternoon, Leo flopped onto his bed and stared at his glass bowl on the nightstand. Inside, a tiny orange **goldfish** named Fin swam in slow circles, her scales shimmering like captured sunlight.
"I wish I had a friend," Leo sighed, resting his chin on his hands.
Suddenly, Fin stopped swimming. She floated to the front of the bowl and stared at Leo with her big, round eyes. Then something magical happened – Fin spoke!
"I've been waiting for you to say that," Fin bubbled, her voice sounding like tiny water chimes. "I'm not just any goldfish, Leo. I'm a Dream Fish, and I can make one wish come true for someone who truly needs a friend."
Leo's eyes grew wide as dinner plates. "You can talk? And grant wishes?"
"But only once," Fin said solemnly. "And you must choose wisely. What kind of friend do you need?"
Leo thought hard. He could wish for a hundred friends, or for someone to play video games with, or for a friend who was exactly like him. But then he remembered how much he loved running through the park, wishing someone could share that feeling of freedom with him.
"I wish for a friend who loves adventure as much as I do," Leo said finally. "Someone who understands that the best kind of fun is the kind where you discover something new together."
Fin's scales began to glow brighter and brighter until the whole room sparkled with golden light. When the light faded, Leo wasn't in his room anymore – he was running beside a sparkling stream in a meadow he'd never seen before, and Fin was there, but now she was the size of a real fish, swimming beside him in the air like it was water.
"We're going on adventures!" Fin chirped. "Every day after school, we'll explore somewhere new – forests, mountains, even the clouds! You're not lonely anymore, Leo, because adventure finds the best friends."
And Leo discovered Fin was right. That summer, they explored enchanted gardens full of singing flowers, raced with friendly rabbits through meadows, and even helped a sad thundercloud learn to smile again. Leo had found the perfect friend – one who believed that magic lived everywhere, just waiting to be discovered.
