The Goldfish Who Caught Lightning
Lily loved visiting her grandma's pond, where a tiny goldfish named Sparkle swam among the lily pads. Sparkle was no ordinary fish—he had shimmering scales that sparkled like stars, and Lily swore he could understand her when she whispered her secrets to him.
One evening, as gray clouds gathered overhead, Lily sat by the pond watching Sparkle swim. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky and struck the water with a brilliant CRACK! Lily gasped as she saw Sparkle glow with an electric blue light.
The next morning, Lily rushed to the pond. She found Sparkle floating strangely—moving in slow, jerky motions like a zombie fish from her scary stories! His scales flickered on and off, and he swam with a wobbly, zombie-like shuffle. The other fish scattered, frightened by his strange new behavior.
But Lily didn't run away. She noticed something magical—every time Sparkle did his zombie wiggle, tiny sparks danced around him like fireworks. When he blinked, little stars flashed from his eyes.
"You're not scary," Lily whispered, reaching out her finger. "You're special!"
Sparkle nudged her finger, and a warm tingle spread through her hand. She gasped as she suddenly understood—Sparkle could grant wishes now, but only small ones. A single spark from his scales could make flowers bloom instantly. His zombie shimmy could make lost toys reappear.
The other fish slowly returned, watching in wonder. They realized their friend wasn't a zombie at all—he was a magic goldfish with superpowers! Soon, all the fish wanted a zombie dance from Sparkle because it meant something wonderful would happen.
From that day on, Sparkle used his lightning powers for good. And Lily learned that sometimes things that seem strange or scary at first can turn out to be the most magical friends of all.
