The Goldfish Who Caught Lightning
Lily pressed her nose against the cool glass of her fishbowl. Inside, Goldie swam in lazy circles, his orange scales shimmering like tiny underwater suns. But today, something was wrong. Goldie wasn't swimming happily—he was floating at the top, looking sad and sluggish.
"Oh no!" Lily cried. She quickly grabbed the bottle of special fish food. Her grandmother had given her a magic vitamin drop to mix in—said it would make Goldie stronger than ever.
Outside, thunder rumbled like a hungry tummy. The sky darkened as storm clouds gathered. Lily carefully mixed the vitamin into Goldie's food and sprinkled it into the bowl.
Just then—CRACK! The most brilliant lightning bolt Lily had ever seen flashed outside her window. For a split second, it seemed to shoot right toward the fishbowl!
Goldie gobbled up his vitamin-enhanced food. Suddenly, his scales began to glow with a golden light. He didn't just swim anymore—he ZOOMED! Round and round the bowl, creating tiny whirlpools.
But the magic didn't stop there. When Lily looked closer, she saw something amazing: little sparks of electricity dancing around Goldie's fins. The lightning bolt's energy had mixed with the magic vitamin!
"Whoa!" Lily whispered.
Goldie swam up to the glass and looked right at her. In that moment, Lily could have sworn she heard a tiny voice in her head: "Thank you, friend!"
From that day on, Goldie could make his own light during storms. And whenever Lily felt scared of thunder, Goldie's glowing scales would fill her room with a soft, brave golden light. They had learned something wonderful together: even the smallest friends can have the biggest magic, especially when they truly care about each other.
Now whenever storms come, Lily and Goldie watch the lightning together—one fish, one girl, and the most magical friendship anyone could ever wish for.
