The Goldfish Who Caught Lightning
Lily's goldfish Sparky wasn't like other fish. While other goldfish swam in lazy circles, Sparky liked to race around his bowl, creating tiny whirlpools with his golden tail.
"Slow down, little friend," Lily would say, tapping the glass gently.
But Sparky couldn't slow down. He felt something magical stirring inside him, something that made his scales shimmer like captured rainbows.
One stormy evening, as lightning flashed across the sky, Sparky began to glow. The little fish swam faster and faster, his golden scales turning bright as the lightning itself. Lily gasped as Sparky leaped right out of his bowl and floated in the air, surrounded by sparks of magical light!
"Follow me!" Sparky seemed to say with a happy wiggle.
Lily grabbed her yellow raincoat and followed the floating fish out into the storm. Lightning crashed all around them, but Lily wasn't afraid. She trusted her magical friend.
They arrived at old Farmer McGregor's field, where a huge bull sat sadly in the rain. This was Ferdinand, known as the gentlest bull in all the land. But tonight, Ferdinand looked heartbroken.
"What's wrong?" Lily asked.
"I'm supposed to be the Star Bull," Ferdinand mooed softly. "Every hundred years, during the Great Storm, lightning carries me back to my home in the sky. But tonight, the lightning won't come near me. I'm too heavy with sadness."
Sparky swam closer to the big bull. The little fish understood—sometimes you need someone to believe in you before you can believe in yourself.
The goldfish darted around Ferdinand's head, leaving trails of golden light. The bull watched, mesmerized, as Sparky created dancing patterns in the air. For the first time all night, Ferdinand's eyes brightened.
Suddenly, a massive bolt of lightning crashed down—but instead of hitting the ground, it wrapped around Sparky's golden glow! The little fish had become a lightning catcher!
Sparky guided the magical energy toward Ferdinand, and the bull began to lift off the ground, his brown fur turning to stardust.
"Thank you!" Ferdinand called as he floated upward, joining his friends in the constellation Taurus.
As the storm cleared, Sparky settled back into his bowl, his scales now permanently shimmering with tiny lightning bolts.
"You're not just a goldfish anymore," Lily whispered. "You're my lightning-fish friend."
And every stormy night after that, Sparky would glow with happiness, remembering the night he helped a bull touch the stars.
