The Goldfish Who Brought Back the Sun

Maya loved her little goldfish, Bubbles. He was orange like a sunset and swam with tiny graceful circles in his bowl on her windowsill. But today, even Bubbles seemed sad as he floated near the glass, his scales dull in the gray light.

The whole garden outside looked like it had forgotten how to grow. The pumpkin patch was drooping, the flowers hung their heads, and even the weeds looked tired. Grandma called them her little zombie plants — not because they were scary, but because they looked half-asleep, as if they'd forgotten how to be alive.

"They need the right food to wake up," Grandma said, pressing something bright into Maya's hand. It was an orange from the kitchen, glowing like a tiny sun. "Nature's little vitamin bomb. This will help them remember."

Maya carried the orange outside, but she didn't know what to do. Then she heard a tiny splash. Bubbles had jumped from his bowl!

He was flopping on the grass, heading straight for the pumpkin patch. Maya scooped him up, but as she held him close to her chest, something magical happened. Bubbles glowed with the same golden light as her orange. Then he gave a little wiggle and — SPROING — tiny wings made of water appeared!

Bubbles flew to each sleeping plant, leaving drops of sparkling water wherever he landed. Maya followed, squeezing her orange until sweet juice fell like rain onto the soil. The pumpkin vines stretched. The flowers perked up. The zombie plants weren't zombie anymore — they were ALIVE, reaching for the sky.

"Sometimes things just need the right friends to help them shine," Grandma said from the porch, smiling.

That night, Bubbles swam in his bowl with extra wiggles. Maya touched the glass, and he did a happy loop-de-loop. Outside, the garden glowed in the moonlight, no longer forgotten but full of magic, friendship, and the memory of one very special goldfish who brought back the sun.
