The Goldfish's Secret Wish

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's garden. Behind the old house stood a magic palm tree, its leaves swishing whispers in the breeze. But Lily knew its real secret—she pressed her palm against its trunk and made a wish.

"Show me something wonderful," she whispered.

The palm tree's bark shimmered like sunlight on water. A door appeared, leading down to a secret pool Lily had never seen before. The water glowed with tiny stars, swirling in colors of blue and green.

Suddenly, a small goldfish popped its head above the surface. But this wasn't an ordinary fish—its scales sparkled like actual gold, and it wore the tiniest crown.

"Hello, young friend," the goldfish said. "I've been waiting three hundred years for someone kind enough to find this place."

Lily's eyes grew wide. "You can talk?"

"I can grant wishes too," the goldfish replied, swimming in happy circles. "But only for pure hearts. My first wish was for friends. I was lonely in this magic pool all by myself."

Lily thought for a moment. She had so many things she could wish for—a new bike, endless candy, a puppy. But looking at the sad goldfish, she knew what truly mattered.

"I wish for you to have many friends who care about you," Lily said. "And I promise to visit every day."

The goldfish's smile could have lit up the whole world. POOF! The pool suddenly filled with colorful fish—silver minnows, rainbow koi, and tiny blue fish who looked like swimming sapphires. They all swam around their golden king, celebrating.

"Thank you, Lily," the goldfish said. "You taught me something important. The best wishes are the ones we make for others."

From that day on, Lily visited her magical friends every summer. She learned that true magic isn't in wishes granted—it's in kindness shared. And sometimes, the smallest fish in the smallest pool can hold the biggest heart of all.
