The Goldfish's Secret Spell
Lily's curly red hair bounced as she ran through the park, her golden iphone clutched tightly in her hand. She was playing her favorite game when suddenly—CRACK! The phone slipped from her fingers and tumbled into the old stone fountain.
Peering into the water, Lily gasped. A tiny goldfish with shimmering orange scales was swimming right next to her sinking phone. But this was no ordinary fish. As Lily watched, the goldfish blew a stream of magical bubbles that surrounded her phone, lifting it gently to the surface.
"Thank you!" Lily cried, grabbing her phone. "But... can you understand me?"
The goldfish leaped from the water, and in a puff of sparkly mist, transformed into a small girl with flowing orange hair that looked just like fins.
"I'm Finnella," the girl said. "I'm a fountain guardian, cursed by a grumpy zombie wizard to live as a fish until someone shows me kindness. You didn't just grab your phone and run—you said thank you. That broke the spell!"
Lily's eyes widened. "A zombie wizard? Where is he?"
Finnella pointed toward the old oak tree. "He's sleeping underneath. He's not really mean—he's just lonely. Nobody ever visits him because they're scared."
Lily thought about the kids who sometimes made fun of her wild hair. Being different could be lonely.
"Let's go say hello," Lily said bravely.
Hand in hand, they approached the tree. A green figure emerged, looking sad and surprised. Lily introduced herself and Finnella. Soon they were all laughing together, and the zombie wizard even used his magic to make flowers bloom.
"Friendship," the wizard smiled, "is the most powerful magic of all."
From that day on, Lily visited the fountain often. She learned that sometimes the scariest things just need a little kindness—and that true friends can be found in the most unexpected places. And whenever she saw her reflection, she smiled at her curly hair, knowing that being different was what made her special.
