The Goldfish's Secret Pyramid

Lily pushed the green spinach around her plate. 'I don't want it,' she sighed.

'You might change your mind someday,' Grandma said with a wink.

That evening, Lily sat by the backyard pool, dangling her feet in the cool water. Suddenly, something gold flashed beneath the surface. A tiny goldfish popped its head up—and spoke!

'Psst! You there! We need your help!'

Lily rubbed her eyes. 'Did you just... talk?'

'Pyramid problems! Big ones!' The goldfish—whose name was Finley—explained that deep beneath the pool lay a magical kingdom with a golden pyramid at its center. But the pyramid's magic crystal had fallen out, and without it, the underwater world was losing its glow.

'I can help!' Lily said, forgetting all about being scared.

'But first,' Finley said, 'you need something to remember us by. Take a picture!'

Lily pulled out her iPhone and snapped a photo as Finley did a happy flip in the water. The screen shimmered with rainbow colors.

'The magic will only work if you believe,' Finley whispered. 'And bring something green from above—something you didn't think you liked.'

Lily rushed inside and grabbed a piece of spinach from her dinner plate.

When she returned, Finley sprinkled magic sparkles on the spinach. It turned into emerald-green leaves that let her breathe underwater!

Together, they swam down, down, down until the golden pyramid appeared. But something was wrong—the crystal was stuck under a heavy rock!

Lily remembered what Finley had said about believing. She closed her eyes and imagined the rock being light as a feather. When she opened them, the rock floated away like a bubble!

She placed the crystal back into the pyramid's center. The entire underwater kingdom burst into brilliant light!

'Thank you, Lily!' Finley said. 'You saved us all!'

When Lily woke up the next morning, she was in her bed. Had it all been a dream? She checked her iPhone—and there was the picture of Finley, glowing with magic.

At breakfast, Lily ate all her spinach with a smile. Sometimes the things we think we won't like turn out to be the most magical of all.
