The Goldfish's Secret Promise

Lily loved the old stone pool behind her grandmother's house. It wasn't very big, but the water always sparkled like diamonds when the sun touched it. Every afternoon, she would sit on the mossy edge and dip her fingers in the cool, clear water.

One day, something magical happened. A tiny goldfish with scales like sunset-orange popped to the surface. But this wasn't an ordinary goldfish — it had shimmering wings that glistened in the light!

"Hello, Lily," the goldfish said in a voice like tiny bells. "My name is Coral. I've been waiting for someone kind like you."

Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"

"Only to special friends," Coral bubbled happily. "Would you like to see my secret world?"

Before Lily could answer, her palm began to glow with a soft golden light. The water in the pool started swirling like a miniature rainbow, forming a perfect circle.

"Hold out your palm," Coral instructed. "Trust me."

Lily held out her hand, and suddenly the pool's water lifted up, forming a beautiful floating sphere. Inside, she could see an entire magical kingdom — castles made of pearl, gardens of seaweed flowers, and hundreds of glowing fish.

"This is the Realm of Ripples," Coral explained. "But it's fading because children stopped believing in magic. We need a guardian to protect it."

"Me?" Lily asked. "But I'm just a kid."

Coral swam closer. "That's exactly why you're perfect. Children have the strongest imagination. Every time you visit and believe, our world grows stronger."

From that day on, Lily visited the pool every day. She brought her friends to meet Coral, and soon the whole neighborhood children became guardians of the Realm of Ripples. The water sparkled brighter than ever, and sometimes, if you looked closely, you could see tiny ripples dancing with joy.

Lily learned that magic doesn't disappear — it just waits for someone to believe in it again. And the best magic? It's always better when shared with friends.
