The Goldfish's Secret Message
Lily loved her orange goldfish, Finny. He swam in his bowl all day, making bubble faces at her. But one Tuesday, something magical happened.
Lily was playing games on her iPhone when Finny swam to the glass and tapped it — tap, tap, tap. His mouth opened and closed like he was trying to say something. Curious, Lily held her phone near the bowl. Suddenly, the screen glowed golden!
"Help!" whispered Finny's voice through the iPhone speaker. "My friend the Great Sphinx needs us!"
Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?!"
"Only through your magic phone!" Finny bubbled. "The Sphinx in Egypt is sad. Nobody visits her anymore. She's so lonely, she's stopped asking riddles!"
"We have to help!" Lily grabbed her backpack, dropped Finny's bowl in gently (careful not to spill!), and started running out the door. Her iPhone showed a golden path swirling across the screen — a magical map!
She ran through her neighborhood, past the park where she played tag with friends. The golden path led her to the library. Inside, the old book about Egypt began to glow!
"Touch it!" said Finny through the iPhone.
Lily touched the page, and WHOOSH! The library spun around her like a carousel. When it stopped, hot desert air filled her lungs. Sand stretched in every direction. And there, towering against the starry sky, sat the Great Sphinx.
The stone creature looked down with wise, sad eyes. "I am the Sphinx," she rumbled gently. "Once, children came to solve my riddles. Now they look at screens instead. I have forgotten how to share my wisdom."
Lily had an idea. She held up her iPhone. "What if your riddles could reach children everywhere?"
The Sphinx's eyes sparkled. "Clever child! Will you help me?"
Together, they recorded the Sphinx's riddles on Lily's phone: "What has keys but opens no locks?" and "What gets wetter the more it dries?" When Lily returned home and posted them online, children from every country started solving them and sharing their own.
The Sphinx wasn't lonely anymore. And every night, Finny the goldfish sends Lily new riddles through her iPhone — reminders that magic lives wherever friends help each other.
