The Goldfish's Secret Garden

Leo stared into his fishbowl. His goldfish, Finny, stared back with shimmering orange scales that caught the morning sunlight.

"I wish you could talk," Leo whispered, pressing his nose against the glass.

BLOOP!

Finny jumped right out of the water, landing softly on Leo's rug. But Finny wasn't a fish anymore — he stood on two tiny fins, wearing a little blue jacket.

"I've been waiting for you to say that!" Finny said with a grin. "Come with me!"

Finny pulled a glowing papaya from his pocket. He split it open, and inside wasn't fruit — it was a swirling, magical doorway.

"Where does it go?" Leo asked, eyes wide.

"To the Secret Garden of Courage! But first..." Finny reached into his jacket again and pulled out a sparkling blue pill. "You must take this courage vitamin. The garden only appears for the brave."

Leo swallowed it. Warmth spread through his chest, like drinking hot cocoa on a snowy day.

They jumped through the papaya portal together.

WHOOSH!

They landed in a meadow where flowers sang in soft voices and butterflies left trails of glitter. An old turtle sat on a mushroom, reading a newspaper.

"Another visitor?" the turtle said, looking over his spectacles. "The garden hasn't had visitors in years. What brings you here?"

"My friend Leo needs to learn something important," Finny said. "He's afraid to show anyone his drawings."

Leo's face turned red. "I'm not good enough."

The turtle smiled. "Ah, but art isn't about being good. It's about being brave enough to share your heart with the world."

He waved his shell, and suddenly Leo's sketches appeared all around them — dragons, spaceships, underwater cities. They glowed and danced through the air.

"See?" Finny said. "Your imagination is magic."

"But... what if people laugh?"

"Then they'll miss out on something wonderful," the turtle said. "But some won't laugh. Some will see exactly what they needed to see, and they'll become your friend because of it."

Leo looked at his drawings floating in the magical air. They were beautiful. They were his.

"I'm ready to go back," Leo said. "I want to draw something new."

When Leo opened his eyes, he was back in his room. Finny swam peacefully in his bowl, orange scales flashing.

On Leo's desk sat a fresh papaya, with a note: 'For whenever you need courage. — Your friend, Finny'

Leo smiled and picked up his pencil. He had so many stories to share.
