The Goldfish's Secret Adventure
Lily stared into her bowl at her goldfish, Sparkle. "I wish I had a real friend," she whispered. Just then, Sparkle popped to the surface and said, "I can help with that!"
Lily gasped. "You can talk?"
Sparkle's orange scales shimmered. "Take me to the Old Oak Forest at midnight, and you'll find friendship."
That night, Lily carried Sparkle's bowl through the moonlit woods. Suddenly, a clever fox with bright amber eyes stepped onto the path. "I'm Felix," said the fox. "The goldfish sent word you needed guidance."
Felix led them deeper into the forest until they reached a clearing. There, sleeping under the stars, was a massive stone sphinx with wings folded at its sides.
"A sphinx!" whispered Lily.
The sphinx's eyes opened, glowing like emeralds. "To pass, you must answer my riddle: What has a heart but no life, beats but no breath, and can be broken but never dies?"
Lily thought hard. Sparkle blew bubbles encouragingly. Felix nudged her paw. Then Lily smiled. "A promise!"
The sphinx bowed its stone head. "Wise child. Your friend awaits behind the waterfall."
Behind the cascading water, Lily found a gentle bull with a coat like storm clouds, carefully guarding a nest of baby birds.
"This is Bucephalus," Felix said. "He looks fierce, but he's the kindest guardian in the forest."
The bull smiled warmly. "Any friend of Sparkle and Felix is a friend of mine."
Lily realized she had found not one friend, but four. And that night, she learned that true friendship comes in all shapes and sizes—even in a fishbowl, on four legs, in stone, and with horns.
