The Goldfish's Pyramid Promise
Lily loved running through her grandmother's garden, past the swaying palm tree that danced in the warm breeze. But today was different. Today she discovered something magical.
Behind a bush of bright green spinach leaves, something sparkled in the sunlight. Lily pushed aside the leaves and gasped. There, nestled among the vegetables, stood a tiny golden pyramid no bigger than her thumb.
"Who dares disturb my rest?" a tiny voice squeaked.
Lily looked down and saw the most extraordinary thing—a small goldfish with shimmering orange scales was flopping beside the pyramid! But this wasn't any ordinary goldfish. It had tiny wings and could speak!
"I'm Lily," she whispered, kneeling down. "What are you?"
"I'm Finley, the guardian of the Wishing Pyramid," the goldfish puffed out his chest. "And you, young human, have awakened me from a hundred-year nap!"
The pyramid suddenly glowed with rainbow light. Finley explained that inside this magical pyramid lay three wishes, but they could only be used for helping others, not for selfish things.
"My grandmother's cat is missing," Lily said thoughtfully. "She's so sad."
Finley nodded wisely. "Then that shall be your first wish!" He swirled around the pyramid, which chimed like tiny bells. Suddenly, a path of golden pawprints appeared, leading behind the old palm tree.
Lily started running, following the magical trail. There, curled up and asleep, was her grandmother's fluffy cat!
"You still have two more wishes," Finley reminded her as she carried the cat back.
Lily thought hard. She used her second wish to help her friend Marcus, who had broken his leg and couldn't play soccer. The pyramid sent him a magical flying ball that he could catch while sitting on his porch.
For her final wish, Lily looked at Finley, who seemed lonely swimming in a small bowl. "I wish you had a beautiful pond where you could swim freely and make lots of friends!"
Finley's eyes grew wide. Tears of joy sparkle-splashed onto the spinach leaves. "You used your last wish for ME?"
"Friends help friends," Lily smiled.
The pyramid glowed brighter than ever, and instantly, a crystal-clear pond appeared in the garden. Finley swam happily, joined by other magical fish who appeared to welcome him.
From that day on, Lily visited Finley every afternoon, running past the palm tree and through the spinach patch, knowing that the best magic of all was kindness. And sometimes, if she was very lucky, Finley would let her make tiny ripples in the water that turned into butterflies.
