The Goldfish's Orange Wish
Lily loved her pet goldfish, Sparkle. He wasn't an ordinary fish — his scales shimmered like tiny stars, and every morning at breakfast, he would swim to the left side of his bowl when Lily ate her orange, and to the right side when she took her vitamin.
One sunny Saturday, Lily's grandmother visited. "Why does Sparkle swim back and forth like that?" Grandma asked, watching the fish dance.
Lily giggled. "I think he's trying to tell me something!"
That night, Lily had a wonderful idea. She tiptoed to the kitchen, peeled her orange into the shape of a little boat, and carefully placed her vitamin inside like a precious treasure. Then she did something magical — she made a wish on the first star she saw through her window.
"I wish Sparkle could have an adventure," she whispered.
The next morning, Lily's bedroom was filled with golden light. And there, swimming through the air as if it were water, was Sparkle! He was bigger now, glowing softly, and following a trail of sparkles that led out the window.
"Wait for me!" Lily cried, grabbing her magic orange boat and vitamin treasure.
Together they soared above the treetops, past fluffy clouds that tasted like cotton candy, and through a rainbow that painted everything in beautiful colors. Sparkle showed Lily his secret kingdom — an underwater castle in the sky, where fish could fly and birds could swim.
"The vitamin," Sparkle seemed to say, blowing bubbles that formed words. "It's not just for growing strong. It's for growing kind hearts and brave spirits too!"
Lily understood then. The real magic wasn't in the vitamin or the orange or even in flying fish. The real magic was in believing that wonderful things could happen.
When they returned home, Sparkle swam back into his bowl, smaller now but still sparkling. Lily placed the orange peel on her nightstand as a reminder of their adventure.
From that day on, every time Lily took her vitamin and ate her orange, she would smile, knowing that somewhere between dreams and wakefulness, magic was waiting for anyone brave enough to believe in it.
And sometimes, just sometimes, Sparkle would still swim to the left and right, as if saying, "The adventure continues!"
