The Goldfish's Orange Pyramid

Lily peeked inside her lunchbox and gasped. The orange she'd packed wasn't just an orange anymore—it was glowing! Tiny sparkles danced around its bumpy skin like little stars.

"What's happening?" she whispered, reaching for it with wonder.

suddenly, a tiny voice squeaked, "Wait! Don't peel me yet!"

Lily jumped back. The orange rolled across the table and stopped right next to her building blocks. Slowly, magically, the blocks began to stack themselves—higher and higher, wider and wider—until they formed a perfect pyramid.

"My name is Fin," said the voice. A shimmering goldfish swam through the air as if it were water. "I'm the magical goldfish who lives inside very special oranges. I've been waiting for a friend like you."

"A friend?" Lily's eyes widened. "You want to be my friend?"

"Indeed!" Fin did a happy flip. "But first, you must solve my riddle. What's orange on the outside, sweet on the inside, and full of sunshine even on cloudy days?"

Lily thought hard. She looked at the glowing orange, then at Fin's golden scales that shone like tiny suns. "An orange!"

"Correct!" Fin cheered. "And now, you may make a wish."

Lily didn't wish for toys or candy. She thought about her grandmother, who lived far away and couldn't visit anymore. "I wish for Grandma to see our garden bloom this spring."

The orange split open gently, releasing golden sparkles that floated out the window. Days later, Grandma sent a letter: "I dreamed of your garden last night. The flowers were so beautiful, I felt like I was right there with you."

Lily smiled at her orange pyramid. Sometimes, she learned, the best magic isn't about making things appear—it's about making someone feel loved, even from far away.

And that's how Lily and Fin became the best of friends, building not just pyramids of blocks, but bridges between hearts.
