The Goldfish's Midnight Wish
Lily's goldfish, Finley, swam in lonely circles around his glass bowl. Every night, Lily pressed her face against the glass and whispered, "I wish you could see the world, Finley. I bet fish have wonderful adventures in their dreams."
One rainy Tuesday, something magical happened. Lily's iPhone, usually dark on her nightstand, began to glow with shimmering blue light. Curious, she touched the screen—and saw Finley, but not the Finley from her room. This Finley wore a tiny golden crown and swam through an ocean of stars!
"Help me!" Finley's voice floated from the phone. "The Moon-Cat has trapped my friends!"
Lily's orange tabby, Marmalade, suddenly jumped onto her bed. But this wasn't ordinary Marmalade—this cat had silver whiskers that sparkled like moonlight and eyes full of ancient wisdom.
"The portal opens once every hundred years," Marmalade said. "Grab the cable, child."
Lily grabbed her charging cable. But as she touched it, the rubber transformed into a twisting rainbow bridge, stretching from her window straight into the night sky!
"Climb quickly," urged Marmalade. "Finley's world fades with the dawn!"
Hand in paw with the magical cat, Lily climbed the cable-bridge into a realm made entirely of water and wonder. Floating jellyfish played harps made of coral. Castles built from pearls glowed softly.
They found Finley trapped in a bubble by the Moon-Cat—a magnificent creature with fur like galaxies and claws of pure light.
"Only something that gives life can break my spell," the Moon-Cat purred.
Lily thought hard. Then she remembered! In her pocket was her morning vitamin—the one she always forgot to take. She held it up, and it began to glow rainbow colors.
"This gives me health," she said bravely. "Maybe it can give Finley freedom too."
The vitamin dissolved into sparkles, popping the bubble instantly.
"You showed courage and kindness," said the Moon-Cat, bowing. "For that, I grant you three wishes."
Finley swam to Lily's side. "I wish to visit my friend whenever I want!"
"Granted," said the Moon-Cat. "But remember—magic lives in kindness, not in wishes."
Lily woke in her bed, iPhone dark, Marmalade grooming ordinary fur. But when she looked at Finley's bowl, a tiny golden crown floated beside him, and sometimes, late at night, she could hear him singing with the stars.
Now Lily never forgot her morning vitamin. After all, you never know when you might need a little magic.
