The Goldfish's Magical Wish

Lily loved her pet goldfish, Fin. He was orange as a sunset and swam in circles around his little castle. Every morning, Lily would press her palm against the glass and whisper, "Good morning, Fin!" And every morning, Fin would swim to her hand and blow bubbles.

One rainy Saturday, Lily was watching television when suddenly the screen went fuzzy. The cable must be loose! She traced the wire behind the TV cabinet and found it unplugged. But something strange happened when she touched the connector – it sparkled like fairy dust!

Fin's bowl began to glow. A tiny voice said, "Lily, I can grant you one wish!"

Lily's eyes widened. "Really? You can talk?"

"Just this once!" Fin swam excitedly. "What's your wish?"

Lily thought about her hair. It was always tangly and hard to brush. "I wish my hair would be magical and never get messy!"

Fin did a flip and made the water shimmer. The sparkles from the cable floated into Lily's room and settled on her head. Her brown hair began to glow and float like seaweed in water!

But then something unexpected happened. Her bedroom door creaked open. Her little brother Max stumbled in, walking like a zombie from his cartoons. "Braid my hair," he mumbled sleepily.

Lily giggled. Her magical hair reached out like gentle fingers and began braiding Max's messy curls all by itself! Max's eyes grew wide. "Cool!"

Lily realized something wonderful. Her magical hair wasn't just for her – she could help others! She spent the afternoon giving her family beautiful, tangle-free hair. Her mom got a fancy updo. Her dad got a neater part. Even the dog's fur got extra fluffy!

That night, Lily pressed her palm to Fin's bowl again. "Thank you, Fin," she whispered. "This was the best wish ever."

Fin swam to her hand and blew bubbles that sparkled in the moonlight. Lily learned that the best wishes aren't the ones that help just yourself – they're the ones that help everyone around you smile too.
