The Goldfish's Magical Wish
Lily's goldfish, Fin, wasn't like other fish. He had scales that shimmered like rainbows and eyes that twinkled like stars. Every night, Lily would press her nose against the glass bowl and whisper, "I wish I were brave."
One stormy evening, lightning flashed and the room filled with golden light. Fin began to glow! Suddenly, he grew—larger and larger—until he became a magnificent fish with glittering fins that could float through air.
"Lily," Fin bubbled, "I've been waiting for you to make that wish. Tonight, we'll find your courage together!"
Fin wrapped Lily in a bubble of magic water, and they floated out her window into the starry sky. Below them, something was running through the dark streets—a zombie!
Lily gasped. She'd heard scary stories about zombies. But this one wasn't scary at all. He was a young zombie boy, stumbling clumsily, crying tears that sparkled like diamonds.
"He's running from nightmares," Fin explained softly. "Every night, he dreams he's alone. No one wants to be his friend because they're afraid."
Lily's heart ached. She knew what it felt like to be afraid. "Can we help him?"
Fin nodded. "True courage isn't about being fearless. It's about kindness when you're scared."
They floated down. The zombie boy looked up, surprised. When he saw Lily's friendly smile instead of fear, his green face lit up. He stopped running.
"I'm Zed," he whispered shyly. "Will you be my friend?"
Lily took his hand, which was cool but gentle. "I'm Lily. And this is Fin. We'll be your friends."
Zed's diamond tears turned into beautiful flowers that bloomed instantly around them. His nightmares disappeared, replaced by dreams of friendship.
Fin glowed brighter than ever. "Lily, you found your courage—not by fighting monsters, but by opening your heart."
As dawn approached, Fin returned to his bowl, now shimmering more brilliantly than before. And Lily knew that whenever she felt afraid, she would remember: sometimes the scariest things just need a friend, and the bravest thing you can do is be kind.
That night, she slept soundly, dreaming of goldfish, friendship, and a zombie who wasn't scary at all—just lonely, like she used to be.
