The Goldfish's Magical Call
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house by the beach. Every summer, she would run across the warm sand and collect seashells in her palm. But this summer was different.
One afternoon, Lily sat by the old pond behind Grandma's house. A tiny orange goldfish swam to the surface and looked right at her with sparkly eyes.
"Hello," said the goldfish. "I'm Finn!"
Lily rubbed her eyes. "You can talk?"
"Magic goldfish always talk!" Finn bubbled. "Do you want to see something amazing?"
Lily nodded, her heart racing with excitement.
"Give me your hand," Finn said.
Lily held out her palm, and suddenly—FLASH! Finn leaped from the water and turned into a tiny, glowing fish that could float in the air! He landed gently on her palm, no bigger than a coin.
"Now," Finn said, "take out your iphone."
Lily pulled her phone from her pocket. Her grandmother had given it to her for emergencies.
"I'm going to call someone special," Finn whispered.
The screen lit up with rainbow colors. Suddenly, Lily's dog Max appeared on the screen! Max had passed away last year, and Lily missed him every day.
"Lily!" Max barked happily, his tail wagging. "I've been waiting to talk to you!"
Tears rolled down Lily's cheeks. "Max! Is that really you?"
Finn explained, "Magic goldfish can connect hearts across any distance. Max is your forever friend, and friendship never truly ends."
Lily talked with Max for hours, showing him her seashells and telling him about school. Max told her about the wonderful place where he was running and playing.
"Remember," Finn said later, as he swam back into the pond, "love is the strongest magic of all. Your friend Max will always be with you—in your heart, in your memories, and in every happy moment."
That night, Lily fell asleep with a seashell in her palm, dreaming of her magical new friend and the wonderful secret they shared. Some goldfish, she learned, don't just swim in ponds—they swim in dreams and make magic happen.
