The Goldfish's Magic Phone

Lily was sitting by the pool, dangling her feet in the cool blue water. It was a hot summer day, and her parents were inside making lunch. Lily was playing on her iPhone, her favorite game where you catch little digital fish.

Suddenly, a splash! Lily leaned too far forward, and her iPhone slipped from her fingers, sinking into the pool with a plop.

"Oh no!" Lily cried. She reached in, but the phone was already at the bottom, too deep to grab.

Just then, something magical happened. A beautiful orange goldfish with shimmering scales swam down to the iPhone. The goldfish looked at the glowing screen, then did something impossible — it tapped the screen with its nose!

The iPhone turned on, even underwater. Bubbles floated up, carrying tiny glowing messages. Lily watched in amazement.

The goldfish swam to the surface and looked right at Lily with big, friendly eyes. In her mind, Lily heard a soft voice: "Hello! I'm Finnegan. Would you like to be friends?"

Lily nodded, too amazed to speak.

Finnegan used the iPhone to show Lily his magical world under the water. Through the screen, she could see his cozy little cave decorated with shiny pebbles, his collection of colorful marbles, and even a tiny chair made of coral.

"Every afternoon, I watch you swim," Finnegan said. "You look so happy, and I wished I could play too. But now we can be friends!"

For the next week, every day Lily would sit by the pool, and Finnegan would swim up to show her something new. He introduced her to his friend — a tiny frog named Freckles who lived on the pool's edge. He showed her the secret rainbow that appeared when the sun hit the water just right.

One day, Finnegan had a surprise. "I made something for you!"

Through the iPhone, he showed her a beautiful picture he'd created using tiny shells and sparkly pool tiles. It was a portrait of Lily, smiling by the water.

Lily felt so happy. "Thank you, Finnegan! But your home is the pool. Won't you miss your friends if you stay near the surface just to talk to me?"

Finnegan swished his tail happily. "The best friends find ways to be together. You come to the pool, I come to the surface. That's how friendship works!"

Lily learned something important that summer: true friendship doesn't need you to be the same. A girl and a goldfish, a human and a fish — even underwater magic can bring friends together.

And every evening, when Lily had to go inside, Finnegan would guard her iPhone at the bottom of the pool, keeping it safe until tomorrow's adventure.
