The Goldfish's Magic Papaya
Lily loved her little goldfish, Finny. He swam in circles in his bowl on her windowsill, his orange scales shining like tiny suns. But Lily had a secret—Finny could talk!
"Lily!" Finny bubbled one morning. "I need your help! My friend Zora the Zombie isn't really scary—she's just lonely and needs something special!"
Lily's eyes widened. A zombie? But Finny explained that Zora was different. She lived in the magical garden behind their house and only looked green and sleepy because she hadn't eaten her favorite food in years.
"What does she need?" Lily asked, grabbing her running shoes.
"A magic papaya!" Finny exclaimed. "It grows on the tallest tree in the garden, and it's filled with a special vitamin that makes zombies happy and colorful again!"
Lily started running, her heart pounding with excitement. She pushed through the garden gate and there it was—the biggest papaya tree she had ever seen! But the papaya was at the very top.
She climbed carefully, reaching, stretching, until her fingers brushed the bumpy orange fruit. With one last stretch, she grabbed it!
Zora was sitting under a tree, looking sleepy and green. Lily handed her the papaya. Zora took a bite, and suddenly—POOF! Her green skin turned rosy pink, her sleepy eyes opened wide and bright.
"The friendship vitamin!" Zora cheered, giving Lily a warm hug. "That's what was in the papaya all along!"
Finny swam happily in his bowl that night, watching Lily and Zora play together. Sometimes the best adventures start with helping a friend, and magic can be found in the kindest hearts.
