The Goldfish's Magic Message

Lily sat by the edge of Bluegill Pond, dangling her bare feet in the cool **water**. She was new in town and hadn't made a single **friend** yet. The pond sparkled in the afternoon sun, and she sighed, wishing she had someone to talk to.

Suddenly, something orange and shiny caught her eye. A beautiful **goldfish** with scales like tiny sunset clouds swam right up to her toes. But this was no ordinary fish—it looked right at her with eyes full of wisdom and

even seemed to smile.

Lily pulled her brand new **iPhone** from her pocket to take a picture, but when she held it above the **water**, something magical happened. The screen began to glow with an underwater light, and tiny bubbles floated up from it. Then, words appeared: 'Hello, Lily. I'm Finnegan the Magic Goldfish. I've been waiting 100 years for someone kind enough to find my pond.'

Lily gasped. 'You can talk through my phone?'

'Only to people with pure hearts,' the message read. 'And I know exactly who needs a friend. There's a girl named Maya who sits under that big oak tree every day, wishing for the same thing you are.'

Finnegan told Lily exactly what to say. When she approached Maya, the shy girl looked up in surprise. Lily held out her hand and said the magic words Finnegan had taught her: 'Would you like to meet a talking goldfish?'

Maya's eyes widened. Together, they returned to the pond where Finnegan sent them both messages full of jokes, riddles, and games to play. They laughed until their sides hurt, and by sunset, they weren't just two lonely kids anymore—they were best friends.

'Good friends are like magic,' Finnegan's last message read. 'They make ordinary days extraordinary.'

From that day on, Lily and Maya visited Finnegan every afternoon. They learned that friendship isn't found in phones or fancy things, but in kindness, courage, and the willingness to say hello. And sometimes, if you're very lucky, a little magic helps you find your way.
