The Goldfish's Magic Cable
Lily's goldfish was not like other fish. His name was Sparkle, and every night at midnight, he would glow with a soft, shimmering light that turned Lily's whole bedroom into an underwater dreamscape.
One evening, Lily noticed something strange behind her fish tank. A thick black cable snaked out from the wall, wiggling like a giant worm. Where did it lead? Curious, Lily followed the cable out her window, up the roof, and all the way to the old oak tree in her backyard.
There, sitting on a branch, was a zombie!
Lily gasped and almost ran back inside. But the zombie looked sad, not scary. His skin was green like moss, and he was gently holding the end of the cable, trying to connect it to a small crystal.
"Please don't go," the zombie said in a rusty but kind voice. "I'm not a scary zombie. I'm a Cloud Zombie, and I've been trying to reach my family for a hundred years."
Lily stepped closer. "Why do you need the cable?"
"This magic cable connects our world to the Sky Kingdom," he explained. "But it's been broken for so long. Your fish Sparkle has magic in his scales—the only magic strong enough to power the connection."
Lily thought about how Sparkle often looked lonely in his small tank. She ran back to her room and carefully carried Sparkle's bowl outside. When Sparkle saw the cable's end, he swam faster than ever, his scales glowing brighter than the stars.
The moment Sparkle touched the cable, brilliant light shot up to the sky! Clouds parted, and dozens of friendly Cloud Zombies appeared, laughing and hugging.
"Thank you!" said the Cloud Zombie, now smiling. "For your kindness, Sparkle can visit the Sky Kingdom whenever he wishes. And you, Lily—you are now a Guardian of the Magic Cable."
From that night on, Lily and Sparkle had amazing adventures. And the scary zombie in the woods? He became her best friend, proving that sometimes the scariest things just need a little help—and a lot of heart.
