The Goldfish's Lightning Pyramid

Timmy never expected his pet goldfish to talk—especially not with a British accent.

"Excuse me, young man," said Goldie, swimming to the front of her bowl. "But you're going to want to see this."

She nudged her snout toward the window, where a lightning bolt had just struck the backyard. But instead of fading, the lightning had formed a glowing blue pyramid right in the middle of the vegetable garden.

Timmy's eyes grew wide. "Is that... real?"

"As real as spinach makes you strong," Goldie said mysteriously. "Grab my bowl. We've got an adventure waiting."

Timmy carefully carried Goldie outside. As they approached the shimmering pyramid, it made a sound like wind chimes. The walls were made of pure light, and inside, Timmy could see floating crystals and swirling colors.

"Only those with pure imagination may enter," a voice echoed from the pyramid.

Timmy stepped forward—and suddenly he was inside! The walls were lined with mirrors that showed different worlds. In one mirror, he saw children flying kites on Mars. In another, whales swam through clouds.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Goldie's voice echoed. "But something's wrong. Look at the ceiling."

Timmy looked up. The pyramid's peak was cracking. Dark smoke seeped through.

"The pyramid runs on wonder," Goldie explained. "But children these days spend too much time on their phones. They've forgotten how to dream. The pyramid is dying."

Timmy thought about his iphone, sitting on his desk at home. How many hours had he spent scrolling instead of imagining?

"What can we do?" Timmy asked.

Goldie swam to a small pedestal where a single leaf of spinach glowed with golden light. "This is the Spinach of Imagination. One bite, and you'll see the world as it could be—not just as it is."

Timmy hesitated. He wasn't a fan of vegetables. But for adventure?

He took a bite. Suddenly, everything changed. The cracks in the ceiling began to glow. The mirrors swirled with new images—children building forts, drawing dragons, dancing in rainstorms. Wonder flooded the pyramid.

"You did it!" Goldie cheered. "Your belief saved us!"

But as Timmy woke up in his bed the next morning, Goldie was just a normal goldfish again, swimming silently in her bowl. Had it all been a dream?

Then he noticed it—a small crystal from the pyramid on his nightstand, still glowing faintly.

Timmy smiled, picking up his phone. Instead of opening a game, he opened the notes app and began writing a story about a magical pyramid and a brave goldfish.

Some adventures, he realized, are just beginning.
