The Goldfish's Green Magic
Lily loved running through the garden every morning. Her feet pattered on the grass, and the wind rushed through her hair. But one Tuesday, something made her stop.
Behind the old oak tree, she discovered a tiny pool she'd never seen before. The water sparkled like diamonds dropped from the sky.
"Hello," whispered a voice.
Lily peeked closer. A single goldfish swam in the center, its scales shimmering like sunset clouds.
"I'm Finn," said the goldfish. "And you're just in time."
"For what?" Lily asked, her eyes wide.
"My swimming race!" Finn did a happy flip. "But I'm too hungry to swim fast. Do you have any..." He looked around shyly. "Any spinach?"
Lily giggled. "Spinach? Fish don't eat spinach!"
"Magic ones do," Finn said seriously. "It gives me the power to swim through air!"
Her grandmother grew spinach in the garden. Lily grabbed a handful of the green leaves and dropped them into the pool.
Finn nibbled one leaf, then another. CRACKLE! ZING! Tiny golden sparks floated around him.
"Watch this!" Finn leaped from the water and kept swimming—through the air! He circled Lily's head leaving a trail of golden sparkles.
"Come with me!" Finn called. "Jump in!"
Lily hesitated, then jumped into the pool. But instead of sinking, she floated upward, swimming through the sky beside her fish friend.
Together they raced clouds, danced with butterflies, and discovered that the most wonderful things often come from the most unexpected places.
That afternoon, Lily learned something important: Never assume something is boring just because it looks ordinary. Spinach could make magic. Small goldfish could have big dreams. And an ordinary running day could become an extraordinary adventure.
Every morning after that, Lily still went running—but sometimes, just sometimes, she brought spinach, just in case a certain goldfish needed some magic for another sky-swimming race.
