The Goldfish's Golden Secret
Maya's favorite thing was the tiny goldfish bowl on her nightstand. Every night before bed, she would wave her palm and watch little Finny swim in excited circles, his orange scales glowing like tiny sunset pieces.
One Tuesday, something magical happened. Maya leaned close to the glass, and Finny swam right up to her, his bubbles forming words! "Maya! I need your help! My friend Pharaoh is trapped in the Crystal Pyramid!"
Maya gasped. "A pyramid? Like in Egypt?"
"Not exactly," Finny's bubbles read. "It's in your backyard! But only children with wild, curly hair and kind hearts can see it."
Maya touched her bouncy curls. This was it! Her adventure was beginning!
She tiptoed outside in her moonlight slippers. In the center of her garden, where she'd never noticed anything before, stood a magnificent glass pyramid. It shimmered with rainbow colors, and inside she could see something moving.
"How do I get in?" Maya whispered.
"Press your palm against the glass!" Finny called from his bowl, which she'd brought along.
Maya pressed her hand. The pyramid wall rippled like water and let her through!
Inside sat a tiny, sad goldfish named Pharaoh in a lonely bowl. But more importantly, Pharaoh was guarding something amazing—a stash of golden wishes that had been stolen from all the neighborhood children!
"I've been waiting for someone kind to find me," Pharaoh said. "These wishes need to be returned!"
Maya knew what to do. Together, she, Finny, and Pharaoh spent the night returning wishes to every child's pillow. By dawn, the pyramid had vanished, but Maya had two new fish friends and the best feeling in her heart.
Sometimes, she discovered, the smallest creatures have the biggest adventures. And the best magic isn't gold or pyramids—it's helping friends in need.
