The Goldfish's Gift

Lily's goldfish, Glub, was no ordinary fish. While most goldfish just swam in circles, Glub seemed to watch Lily with wise, glittering eyes. Every day, Lily would sprinkle fish food into the bowl, and every day, Glub would swim to the surface and blow bubbles that looked suspiciously like letters.

One hot afternoon, Lily was eating a sweet papaya under the palm tree in her backyard. Juice dripped down her chin as she sighed. "I wish I could go on an adventure," she told Glub, who was swimming in his bowl on the table beside her.

Suddenly, Glub swam to the surface and whispered, "Take me to the ocean, and I'll show you magic."

Lily nearly dropped her papaya. "You can TALK?"

Glub nodded. "Only to someone with a kind heart. Now, take me to the water!"

Excited, Lily carefully carried Glub's bowl all the way to the beach. When she reached the shore, she poured Glub into the gentle waves. At first, Lily worried her little friend would be scared in the big ocean. But instead, Glub began to grow—and grow—until he was the size of a dolphin!

"Hop on!" Glub said cheerfully.

Lily climbed onto Glub's back, and they swam deeper and deeper into the blue water. Sea turtles waved hello. Colorful fish danced around them. A whale sang a beautiful song.

Finally, they reached an amazing sight—a crystal pyramid made entirely of water! It shimmered like a diamond in the sunlight.

"This is the Pyramid of Dreams," Glub explained. "Inside, every child's wish is kept safe."

Inside the water pyramid, Lily saw glowing orbs floating everywhere—children's dreams from all over the world. Some dreams were about flying. Others were about making new friends. Many were about helping people.

"What's your dream, Lily?" Glub asked.

Lily thought carefully. She looked at all the beautiful dreams around her. "My dream is to help everyone feel loved and happy."

The pyramid glowed brighter, and a new orb appeared—Lily's dream, shining with golden light.

"That," Glub said kindly, "is the most powerful dream of all."

As they swam back to shore, Glub shrank back to his normal size. Lily carried him home in a bucket of seawater, knowing that the best adventures aren't about seeing magical places—they're about carrying magic in your heart and sharing it with others.

From that day on, whenever Lily felt lonely, she would look at Glub, and he would blow bubbles that spelled out: "You are loved."

And that was the greatest magic of all.
