The Goldfish in the Baseball Glove
Leo loved baseball, but he was too shy to join the team. Every day after school, he'd sit alone in his backyard, tossing his ball up and catching it in his old leather glove. His wild, curly hair bounced with every catch.
One afternoon, something magical happened. When Leo reached into his glove to fetch the ball, he found something else instead—a tiny goldfish!
"Hello!" squeaked the fish, wiggling its shiny orange fins. "I'm Finnigan! I've been watching you practice all by yourself. You're wonderful!"
Leo's eyes grew wide. "You can talk? But fish need water!"
"Magic fish can do anything!" Finnigan bubbled happily. "I'm here to help you. You need something special—a bravery vitamin!"
The goldfish wiggled his tail and produced a glowing orange orb the size of a marble. It sparkled like sunshine.
"Take this," Finnigan said. "One bite, and you'll have the courage to do anything!"
Leo held the magical vitamin in his hand. He thought about joining the baseball team, making friends, and not being so lonely anymore. But then he looked at Finnigan.
"Wait," Leo said slowly. "I don't need magic vitamins to be brave. I already toss my ball every day even when I'm alone. That's brave, isn't it?"
Finnigan's scales sparkled brighter than ever. "You're the smartest boy I've ever met! You're already brave!"
The goldfish disappeared in a flash of golden light, leaving behind something real—a baseball card that said "Believe in yourself."
The next day, Leo walked onto the baseball field, his wild hair flying in the wind. "Can I play?" he asked, his voice strong and clear.
The team captain grinned. "We've been waiting for you, Leo!"
Leo smiled. He didn't need magic after all. He had everything he needed—all along.
