The Goldfish Guardian's Secret

Lily pressed her nose against the cool glass of her fish bowl. Inside, a tiny orange goldfish named Fin swam in lazy circles.

'I know you're hiding something,' Lily whispered. Fin blinked his googly eyes and swam faster.

That night, Lily woke to a strange sound. *Drip, drip, splash.* She tiptoed to her desk and gasped. The water from Fin's bowl was spilling over the sides, but not onto her homework. Instead, it was flowing upward, forming a shimmering pyramid of liquid light right there in her room!

Fin swam through the air, encased in a bubble of water. 'Come with me, Lily!' he burbled. 'The Dream Pyramid needs you!'

Lily stepped through the pyramid's entrance and found herself in a magical realm. Everywhere she looked, towering palm trees made of crystal and moonlight stretched toward a starry sky. But the strangest thing was a thick black cable winding through the paradise like a snake.

'Follow it,' Fin said. 'It connects dreams to children who believe.'

Lily trailed the cable until it reached a dry, dusty clearing. Children sat there, looking sad and bored.

'They've forgotten how to imagine,' Fin explained sadly. 'The Dream Cable is fading.'

Lily knew what to do. She closed her eyes and remembered: blowing dandelion seeds, building blanket forts, the tickle of grass between her toes. She imagined with all her heart.

The cable glowed brighter. Crystal water gushed from it, forming a fountain. The palm trees chimed like bells. One by one, the children's eyes widened. They began to laugh and play and dream.

Fin swam around Lily's head. 'You did it! You saved the magic!'

Lily woke up in her bed. Had it been real? She looked at Fin's bowl. The goldfish winked at her, and beside the bowl sat a small crystal leaf, shimmering like moonlight.

From that day on, Lily never stopped imagining. And sometimes, when she looked very carefully, she could see the Dream Pyramid sparkling in the corner of her eye, reminding her that magic lives inside everyone who believes.
