The Goldfish Detective

Ten-year-old Lily peered into her fishbowl. "Are you magical?" she whispered to Goldie, her orange goldfish.

Goldie swam to the surface and blew a tiny bubble that popped with a spark! Lily's iphone sitting on the desk began to glow. Golden light swirled around her room.

Suddenly, Goldie wasn't a fish anymore — she was a tiny girl with flowing orange hair and sparkly fins on her shoes! And she was now the size of Lily's thumb.

"I'm a secret spy from the Magic Ocean Kingdom," Goldie whispered. "I need your help solving mysteries!"

Lily's eyes widened. "Really?"

"Really!" Goldie pointed to the iphone. "Your phone is a magic window. Hold it up!"

Lily held her iphone like a detective. Through the screen, she could see trails of glitter floating around her neighborhood.

"Someone stole the Queen's pearl necklace," Goldie said. "The thief is hiding nearby!"

Lily grabbed her sneakers. "Let's go!"

They spent the afternoon running through the park, following the glitter trails. Lily held the iphone high while Goldie guided her. They searched behind trees, under benches, and around the playground.

"There!" Goldie pointed to a grumpy-looking squirrel sitting on a bench, clutching something shiny.

The squirrel drooped. "I only wanted something pretty for my collection," he squeaked.

Goldie grew back to her normal size and gently took the necklace. "True beauty isn't something you take," she said kindly. "It's something you share."

She waved her fin, and the squirrel's tree suddenly bloomed with beautiful flowers. The squirrel's eyes lit up with joy.

"This is better than any necklace!" he chattered.

That night, Lily watched Goldie swimming peacefully in her bowl. But now, she knew the truth — her goldfish was a magical spy detective, and together, they would solve many more mysteries.

"Goodnight, partner," Lily whispered.

Goldie swam in a happy circle and blew a sparkly bubble. Goodnight indeed.
