The Goldfish and the Lightning Pyramid
Leo pressed his nose against the glass bowl, watching his pet goldfish Finn swim in lazy circles. The afternoon sky had turned dark purple, and the first rumble of thunder shook Leo's bedroom window.
"Lightning!" Leo gasped as a brilliant flash illuminated the room.
But something strange happened. Inside the fishbowl, Finn began to glow with a soft golden light. The tiny goldfish swam to the surface and spoke in a bubbly voice, "Leo! The lightning has awakened the Magic Pyramid in the park! We must hurry!"
Leo's eyes went wide. "You can TALK?"
"Only during lightning storms!" Finn explained. "The Pyramid needs us!"
Carefully, Leo carried Finn's bowl outside and rushed to the park. There, in the center of the playground, stood the old wooden climbing structure shaped like a pyramid. Usually, it was just ordinary wood. But now, with each lightning flash, it shimmered with rainbow colors!
"What do we do?" Leo asked, trembling with excitement.
"Place my bowl at the top," Finn instructed. "The lightning magic will help me grant one wish to someone who truly needs it!"
Leo climbed the pyramid, careful not to spill Finn's water. When he reached the top, another lightning bolt flashed, and Finn glowed brighter than ever.
"Who needs a wish?" Finn asked.
Leo thought hard. Then he remembered Mrs. Chen next door, whose beloved cat had disappeared last week. She was so sad, sitting alone on her porch every evening.
"Mrs. Chen needs her cat back," Leo said firmly.
Finn's scales sparkled like tiny stars. A beam of golden light shot from the fishbowl toward the sky, then curved toward Mrs. Chen's house. A moment later, a surprised meow echoed through the neighborhood.
The lightning storm passed, and Finn stopped glowing.
"Did it work?" Leo whispered.
The next morning, Mrs. Chen was hugging her cat on her front porch, tears of joy streaming down her face. She waved at Leo, who waved back with the biggest smile ever.
In his room, Finn swam in happy circles, occasionally winking at Leo when the sun hit the bowl just right. Some magic, Leo discovered, doesn't need lightning at all—just a kind heart and a good friend.
