The Goldfish and the Golden Pyramid

Lily loved summer evenings in her backyard pool, swimming until the stars came out. One night, as she floated on her back watching the clouds, something magical happened. A tiny goldfish with sparkling orange scales swam right up to her face.

"Hello, Lily!" the goldfish said in a bubbly voice. "I'm Finn, and I need your help!"

Lily rubbed her eyes. "You can talk?"

"Only to special friends," Finn finned happily. "There's a golden pyramid at the bottom of this pool, and it holds the secret of friendship. But it only appears during lightning storms! And look—" Finn pointed with his tail—"here comes one now!"

Sure enough, storm clouds gathered above. CRACK! A bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, turning the whole world bright purple. Where the lightning struck the water, a golden pyramid began to glow deep below.

"We have to swim down quickly!" Finn exclaimed. "Grab my fin!"

Lily took a deep breath and kicked her legs. Down, down, down they swam, through shimmering bubbles that tickled her nose. The golden pyramid grew bigger and brighter with every stroke.

Inside the pyramid, walls sparkled with ancient drawings of children and fish playing together. At the center sat a glowing crystal heart.

"The secret," Finn whispered, "is that true friends help each other, no matter how different they are. You helped me reach this place, and now I can grant you one wish."

Lily thought carefully. "I wish that every child could have a magical fish friend like you!"

Finn's scales glowed brighter than ever. "Granted!" he bubbled.

They swam back up just as the storm passed. From that night on, whenever lightning flashed across the sky, children everywhere found their own special fish friends waiting in pools, ponds, and even bathtubs. And Lily knew that the best magic of all was the magic of friendship.
