The Golden Sphinx's Secret

Lily loved her orange goldfish, Goldie, who swam in his round bowl on her nightstand. Every night before bed, she tapped on the glass and whispered, 'Sweet dreams, little friend.'

One magical evening, something strange happened. As Lily reached for her iphone to check the time, Goldie swam to the surface and spoke! 'Lily, I need your help! The Water Sphinx is in trouble!'

Lily rubbed her eyes. 'Goldie? You can talk?'

'Tonight, magic fills the water! Please come with me!' Goldie's scales shimmered like tiny stars.

Suddenly, Lily began to shrink smaller and smaller until she was the same size as her goldfish. Goldie splashed water onto her bed, and it turned into a shimmering pool. Together, they dove into the magical water.

They swam through an underwater world filled with rainbow-colored coral and singing seashells. Finally, they reached a magnificent palace made of pearl shells.

There sat the Water Sphinx - a beautiful creature with the body of a fish and the wise face of an owl. But the Sphinx looked sad. Her usually bright blue scales had turned dull gray.

'What's wrong?' asked Lily.

'The children have forgotten to use their imaginations,' the Sphinx sighed. 'Without their dreams, the magic waters are fading.' She looked at Lily's iphone. 'That device shows you many things, but does it show you your own dreams?'

Lily thought about how she spent hours watching videos instead of making up stories. 'I can help!' she said. 'I'll write the most amazing story about underwater adventures and share it with all my friends!'

As Lily described her tale of brave fish and magical kingdoms, the Sphinx's scales began to glow. The orange light spread through the water, turning it from gray to brilliant blue.

'Thank you,' the Sphinx said. 'Remember, the best magic comes from inside your heart and mind.'

Lily found herself back in her room, normal size again. Goldie swam happily in his bowl, his orange scales brighter than ever.

That night, Lily wrote her story instead of watching videos. She realized that while her iphone could show her many things, her imagination could create whole new worlds.
