The Golden Pyramid's Secret
Lily's pet goldfish, Goldie, wasn't ordinary. While most goldfish just swam in circles, Goldie would dance whenever Lily played music. One Tuesday, Goldie swam to the surface of her bowl and blew a bubble that didn't pop. Instead, it floated out the open window, shimmering like a tiny moon.
"Follow me!" Goldie seemed to say with a flick of her orange tail.
Lily grabbed her backpack and followed the magical bubble through her backyard, past the swing set, until it stopped beside an old oak tree. Where there had been only grass before, now stood a golden pyramid, no taller than Lily, glowing with mysterious light.
"Wow," Lily whispered. She stepped inside and found herself in a chamber filled with twinkling stars.
A figure shuffled toward her from the shadows—a lumpy, greenish creature with bandages wrapped around its arms and legs. A zombie! But instead of being scary, this zombie looked sad and lonely.
"Hello," Lily said bravely. "I'm Lily."
"I'm Zed," the zombie mumbled. "I've been guarding this pyramid for three hundred years. Everyone runs away when they see me."
"I won't run," Lily promised. "Goldie brought me here. She thinks you need a friend."
Suddenly, a magnificent creature appeared through the starry ceiling—a great bull with fur that sparkled like constellations and horns that glowed with starlight. This was Taurus, the Bull from the night sky!
"Zed has been the bravest guardian," Taurus said in a voice like distant thunder. "But he has forgotten how to play, how to laugh, how to be a friend."
Goldie swam through the air as if it were water, leaving trails of golden sparkles. She did a little flip and splashed magical dust over Zed. The zombie's greenish skin turned a warm brown, his bandages transformed into a colorful tunic, and his sad smile became wide and joyful.
"Thank you," Zed beamed. "Will you visit again?"
"Every day!" Lily promised.
From that day on, Lily learned that appearances can be deceiving. The scariest-looking creatures might just need a friend. And sometimes, the most magical adventures begin with a small, orange goldfish who knows that everyone deserves someone to believe in them.
