The Golden Pyramid of Friends
Barnaby was a small brown dog with floppy ears and a big heart. Every day, he explored the meadow behind his house, sniffing flowers and chasing butterflies. But today was different.
Behind the old oak tree, something sparkled. Barnaby dug with his paws until he uncovered a tiny golden pyramid, no bigger than his paw. It hummed with a warm glow.
"What do we have here?" said a deep voice.
Barnaby looked up. A bear stood there—enormous and fluffy, with crazy hair sticking out in every direction like golden sunshine. The bear's hair was magnificent!
"I'm Barnaby," said the dog bravely.
"I'm Pearl," said the bear, smiling. "And that pyramid belongs to the Magic Meadow. It grants one wish to whoever finds it—but only if they share it."
Barnaby thought hard. He could wish for endless treats, or a cozy bed, or to be the fastest dog in the world.
"What would you wish for?" he asked Pearl.
The bear sat down, her wild hair bouncing. "I've been lonely in these woods. I'd wish for a friend."
Barnaby's tail wagged so hard his whole body shook. "Then that's my wish too!"
Together, they touched the pyramid. It flashed rainbow colors, filling the meadow with sparkles.
"Granted!" whispered the pyramid.
And just like that, Barnaby and Pearl became best friends. They played together every day—Barnaby racing through the tall grass, Pearl letting him ride on her fuzzy shoulders. The bear's wild hair became Barnaby's favorite thing to snuggle in when he was tired.
The pyramid disappeared, but something better remained: a friendship that made both of them feel like the luckiest creatures in the world.
That night, Barnaby realized something wonderful. The best wishes aren't the ones we keep for ourselves. They're the ones we give away.
And somewhere in the Magic Meadow, the golden pyramid waited for the next friend who would learn its secret.
