The Golden Pyramid Game
Lily pressed her face against the glass bowl, watching her goldfish, Goldie, swim in endless circles. 'I wish you could play with me,' she whispered.
Suddenly, Goldie swam to the surface and blew a bubble that didn't pop. Instead, it floated upward, glowing with golden light. Lily reached for it, and the bubble transformed into a tiny crystal pyramid that landed softly in her palm.
'This is magic,' she breathed, racing to the backyard with her baseball glove.
Under the old oak tree, something magnificent happened. The crystal pyramid grew bigger and bigger until it towered above her, its transparent walls shimmering with rainbow colors. Inside, she could see entire worlds—places where clouds were made of cotton candy and rivers flowed with strawberry milk.
'Want to play?'
Lily jumped. Behind the pyramid stood a great fuzzy bear wearing a baseball cap backward.
'I'm Barnaby,' the bear rumbled kindly. 'The pyramid appears when someone truly needs a friend.'
Barnaby tossed Lily's baseball into the air. It spiraled through the pyramid's walls and came back shining like a star. 'In the pyramid game,' he explained, 'every catch grants a wish.'
Lily caught the ball and wished for her goldfish to swim freely. Goldie appeared beside them, now floating in a magical bubble of water that let her swim through the air.
They played until sunset—bear, girl, and flying goldfish—catching wishes and making them real. Barnaby wished for honey, and the pyramid created an endless supply. Goldie wished for ocean adventures, and suddenly they were all splashing in waves inside the pyramid's magical walls.
As the first star appeared, Barnaby hugged Lily gently. 'True friends,' he said, 'are like wishes come true. They make even the smallest moments magical.'
The pyramid shrank back into a crystal, which Lily kept safe on her nightstand. Now whenever she feels lonely, she holds it tight, remembering that friendship is the greatest magic of all—turning ordinary days into extraordinary adventures.
And sometimes, if she looks very carefully, she can still see Goldie swimming through the air, and Barnaby waving his baseball cap from inside the glowing pyramid walls, waiting for the next game to begin.
