The Golden Pool of Wishes
Lily loved running through the garden, her orange sneakers flashing like tiny suns. She was the fastest runner in her class, but today she slowed down. Behind the old oak tree, she discovered something she'd never seen before—a small pool of water that sparkled like diamonds.
A tiny goldfish swam to the surface. His scales were shimmering gold, brighter than any jewelry Lily had ever seen.
"Hello," whispered Lily. "Are you magic?"
The goldfish blinked. "I am Finnegan, keeper of the Vitamin Pool. One sip gives you the strength of ten lions!"
Lily's eyes grew wide. "Really?"
Finnegan swam in circles. "But you must promise something first. You can only drink if you use your special power to help someone else today."
Lily thought hard. She could run super fast—that was her special gift. Suddenly, she remembered Mrs. Higgins from next door. She'd fallen yesterday and couldn't walk to the mailbox.
"I promise!" Lily said.
The goldfish smiled. "Then drink, my friend. One small sip."
Lily cupped her hands and took the tiniest sip. Warmth spread through her body like sunshine. She waved goodbye to Finnegan and ran to Mrs. Higgins' house.
"Can I get your mail for you?" Lily asked.
Mrs. Higgins was amazed at how quickly Lily returned with letters, packages, and even her newspaper. "You're like magic!" she said.
Lily smiled, thinking of Finnegan and the Vitamin Pool. Sometimes the real magic isn't in what you can do for yourself—it's in how you use your gifts to help others.
Every day after school, Lily visited the orange tree near the pool, always ready to run to the rescue. And somewhere in the sparkling water, a golden goldfish swam in happy circles, proud of his friend.
