The Golden Pond Secret

Lila loved visiting her grandmother's garden. It wasn't like other gardens — this one had secrets.

One sunny afternoon, Lila sat by the pond, eating a sweet orange **papaya** that grandmother had sliced for her. The juice dripped down her chin as she watched the water sparkle.

Suddenly, something caught her eye. A tiny **goldfish** with scales like actual gold coins popped its head above the water.

"Psst!" whispered the goldfish. "You're the new one, aren't you?"

Lila nearly dropped her papaya. "You can talk?"

"Of course I can talk! I'm Glitter, and I need your help." The goldfish swam closer to the edge. "Someone is stealing our magic pond's sparkle, and I've been trying to **spy** on them for days! But I can't see who's doing it."

"What do they look like?" Lila asked, leaning over the water.

"That's the problem — they only come at night. Will you help me?"

Lila nodded eagerly.

That night, Lila hid behind the big oak tree near the pond. Fireflies danced around her as she waited. Suddenly, she saw them — little green creatures with leafy heads, tiptoeing toward the water.

They were the **Spinach Sprites** from grandmother's vegetable patch!

"What are you doing?" Lila whispered, stepping out from behind the tree.

The sprites jumped! Their leader, a tiny fellow named Leafy, explained. "Our patch is too dry. We only need a little magic pond water for our plants. We didn't know it would hurt anyone."

Lila thought for a moment. "Grandmother says the best way to solve a problem is to work together."

She had an idea.

The next morning, Lila helped the Spinach Sprites build a small canal from the pond to their vegetable patch. The goldfish even helped by showing them the best path.

"Now you can water your plants without taking all the magic," Lila said.

As a thank you, the Spinach Sprites grew the most delicious spinach Lila had ever tasted. And Glitter the goldfish? He started **swimming** alongside the canal, keeping everyone company.

From that day on, Lila learned that sometimes, problems aren't as big as they seem — especially when you're willing to understand others and work together as friends.
