The Golden Cable to the Stars
Leo discovered the cable coiled like a sleeping silver snake in the darkest corner of his grandmother's attic. It wasn't just any old cable—this one hummed with a warm, golden light that made his fingertips tingle when he touched it.
"What are you?" Leo whispered, winding the glowing cable around his arm like a bracelet.
That night, under a blanket of stars visible through his attic window, Leo followed the cable's magical pull. It stretched and stretched, leading him across the backyard, through a hedge of blackberry bushes, and into a secret meadow he'd never noticed before.
There, tangled in wildflowers and moonlight, sat a tiny bull no bigger than a puppy. His coat shimmered like crushed diamonds, and his tiny horns curled like pearls. But the most surprising thing was his eyes—they held entire galaxies, spinning with stardust and ancient light.
"I've been waiting for someone to find my cable," the bull said, his voice sounding like wind chimes. "I am Orion, and I fell from the sky when my constellation got tangled. Without my connection cable, I can't find my way home."
Leo's eyes widened. "You're a star bull?"
"A constellation bull," Orion corrected proudly. "And I need a friend to help me recharge this cable with friendship magic. Only then can it stretch all the way back to the sky."
Leo sat beside the tiny bull, letting the glowing cable rest between them. He told Orion about his school, his dog named Comet, and how he sometimes felt lonely in the big old house. In return, Orion showed him how to see pictures in the stars and taught him the songs that galaxies sing to each other.
As they shared stories and laughter, the cable began to glow brighter and brighter, stretching upward like a golden beanstalk made of light. It reached higher and higher, connecting earth to sky.
"Thank you, Leo," Orion said, his eyes twinkling. "You're not just a friend—you're the best friend I've ever had in all my centuries among the stars."
Orion stepped onto the glowing cable, and like a magic elevator, it carried him upward, twinkling against the night sky until he became part of his constellation once more.
Now, whenever Leo looks up at the stars and sees the bright bull standing proudly in the night, he waves. And somewhere among those distant lights, Orion always winks back, their golden cable of friendship still connecting them across the infinite space between earth and sky.
