The Golden Cable Baseball
Lily loved her messy curly hair. It bounced when she ran, and she ran everywhere—especially to the baseball field behind her house.
One Saturday, Lily found something strange near the old oak tree. A golden cable, glowing like sunshine, stretched from the ground into the sky. It hummed with a mysterious tune.
"Hello?" she called.
A tiny voice answered back. "Hello down there!"
Lily looked up. A small boy with sparkly blue hair sat on a cloud, holding the end of the golden cable. "I'm Finn! I'm from the Sky Kingdom. Our baseball rolled down your cable and got stuck!"
Lily gasped. "I'll help you find it!"
She searched through tall grass, her curls bouncing. Behind the baseball diamond, under the bleachers, and beside the old shed. Nothing.
Then she remembered—her dog Buster loved burying things! She rushed to Buster's favorite spot near the pitcher's mound. There it was! A baseball that shimmered like a rainbow.
"Found it!" Lily cheered, tossing it up the golden cable.
Finn caught it and laughed. "Thank you! This isn't just any baseball—it's the Magic Orb! It makes everyone who plays with it become best friends forever."
He tossed something back down. A beautiful blue ribbon floated into Lily's hands.
"For your hair," Finn called. "Now we'll always be connected, just like this cable!"
Lily tied the ribbon in her curls. Whenever she looked up at the sky, she waved. And sometimes, if she watched closely, she'd see Finn playing baseball with his friends on the clouds, using the Magic Orb to make new friends every day.
That night, Lily tucked her baseball glove under her pillow. She had learned something wonderful: helping others— even friends from the sky—was the best adventure of all. And the best part? She had made a friend who would last forever, connected by kindness and one magical golden cable.
