The Golden Bull's Secret Pool
Lily loved exploring the attic of her old house. One rainy afternoon, she found something strange behind a stack of boxes—a mysterious golden cable that seemed to glow from inside. Curious, she gave it a gentle tug.
WHOOSH! The cable began to move, lifting her through a tiny window into the sky. Lily gasped as she floated above her neighborhood, then higher and higher until she saw something amazing—a shimmering golden pyramid floating among the clouds!
The cable lowered her gently at the pyramid's entrance. Inside, walls sparkled with colors that changed like a rainbow. At the center stood the most peculiar creature Lily had ever seen—a bull with fur the color of a ripe orange and eyes that twinkled like stars.
"Welcome, young friend," the orange bull spoke kindly. "I am Barnaby, guardian of the Wishing Pool. But I haven't had visitors in many years. Most people are too busy to notice magic cables."
Lily's eyes widened. "A wishing pool?"
Barnaby nodded and led her to a beautiful pool filled with water that reflected not just the ceiling, but swirling images of dreams and hopes. "This pool shows the true desires of kind hearts. What do you wish for, Lily?"
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for toys, or candy, or endless adventures. But then she remembered her lonely grandmother who couldn't visit her friends anymore, and her friend Sam who was sad about his sick puppy.
"I wish for Grandma's happiness, and for Sam's puppy to get better," Lily said without hesitation.
The pool's water glowed golden, and tiny lights danced across its surface like fireflies. Barnaby smiled warmly. "You have a beautiful heart, Lily. Selfish wishes fade quickly, but kindness creates magic that lasts forever."
The bull pressed his orange nose to her forehead. "Thank you for reminding me why I guard this pool. The world needs more hearts like yours."
When Lily opened her eyes, she was back in her attic. But now she carried something special—the knowledge that the best wishes are the ones we make for others. And sometimes, on rainy afternoons, she still looked for that golden cable, hoping for another magical journey with her friend Barnaby.
