The Golden Bull's Secret
Lily loved exploring the beach after storms. That's where she found it—shining in the sand like a piece of fallen moon. An old iphone, cracked but somehow still glowing.
She picked it up carefully. The screen flickered with strange blue light, showing something beneath the waves. Something huge and golden, struggling.
Without thinking, Lily ran to the water. She wasn't afraid of swimming—she'd been doing it since she was tiny. The ocean was her second home.
Down she dove, deeper and deeper, until the blue turned to green and sunlight became just a memory. And there she saw him: a magnificent golden bull, his horns like crescent moons, his eyes kind and ancient. But he was trapped, tangled in thick black cable that wrapped around his powerful legs.
The cables were everywhere—human things that didn't belong in his underwater kingdom. The bull had been guarding the ocean's secrets for a thousand years, but now he couldn't move.
Lily's iphone glowed brighter in her hand. Somehow, she understood—the device was showing her what needed help. The golden bull wasn't just any creature. He was magic itself, trapped by human carelessness.
She swam closer, and the bull's gentle eyes met hers. In that moment, she knew what to do. She began pulling at the cables, working steadily while the bull watched with patient gratitude.
Bit by bit, the knots loosened. The bull helped too, using his golden nose to nudge the stubborn pieces. Finally, the last cable fell away.
Free!
The golden bull swam in a joyful spiral, creating currents of sparkling light. He nudged Lily's hand with his soft nose, and she felt warmth flow through her—like being hugged by sunshine.
"Thank you, small friend," his voice seemed to whisper in her mind. "Humans forget that their things reach even here. But you remembered."
He swam toward the surface, and Lily followed. When they broke through into the golden afternoon light, the bull dissolved into a thousand shimmering bubbles that floated upward to become stars.
Lily's iphone was just a normal phone now, its screen dark. But she knew better. Some magic, once shared, lives forever in the heart.
