The Golden Bull's Secret
Lily loved swimming more than anything in the world. Every summer day, she and her best friend Leo would race to the beach, their toes wiggling in the warm sand. 'Last one in is a sea turtle!' Leo would shout, and they'd splash into the sparkling blue water together.
One cloudy afternoon, while they were swimming near the old coral reef, Lily noticed something strange. A golden glint shimmered beneath the waves. She dove deeper, her heart pounding with excitement. There, resting on the ocean floor, stood a miniature pyramid made of crystal.
'Leo! Look!' she bubbled, pointing at the magical structure.
As they approached, the pyramid began to glow. Suddenly, the crystal walls dissolved, revealing a magnificent golden bull inside. The creature was only the size of a large dog, but its horns were shaped like crescent moons and its eyes sparkled like stars.
The golden bull spoke in a voice like gentle waves. 'Welcome, young friends. I am Apollo, guardian of the ocean's secrets. I've been waiting for someone pure of heart to visit my pyramid.'
Apollo told them that long ago, he was placed there to protect the sea. But over the years, he had grown lonely watching children play above, never able to join them. The bull's magical duty kept him trapped in his crystal pyramid unless true friends came to visit.
'Every friendship is like the ocean,' Apollo said wisely. 'It has depths to explore and treasures to discover. Real friends stick together through rough waves and calm seas alike.'
Lily and Leo promised to visit their new friend often. That summer, they learned that Apollo knew all the ocean's secrets — where the prettiest shells hid, which dolphins loved to play, and how to speak with the friendly sea turtles.
When summer ended and school began, Lily and Leo still swam to the underwater pyramid every weekend. They realized that the best discoveries aren't just magical creatures or hidden treasures — they're the friendships we make along the way.
And deep beneath the waves, Apollo no longer felt lonely, because he had two wonderful friends who swam all the way down just to say hello.
