The Golden Baseball Pyramid
Leo hated spinach. Every night at dinner, he'd push the green leaves around his plate, wishing for something exciting to happen instead.
One afternoon, while playing baseball in his backyard, Leo hit his favorite ball so hard it sailed over the fence and landed in his grandmother's garden. When he went to find it, he discovered something impossible—his baseball was glowing golden light, and it had landed right in the middle of the spinach patch.
As Leo reached for it, the spinach leaves began to shimmer and swirl around the ball. Suddenly, a golden pyramid rose from the garden, shimmering like sunshine. The baseball floated toward a small opening at the pyramid's base.
Leo followed the ball inside. The walls were covered in ancient paintings of children playing games with round objects—baseball! But there was something magical about these games. The children were throwing balls made of light.
An old man with kind eyes appeared. "Welcome, Leo. I've been waiting for someone who loves baseball as much as the ancient children of Egypt did."
"You know baseball?" Leo asked.
"We invented it!" The man laughed. "But we forgot how to play. Our scrolls say the secret was eating spinach before every game. It gave players strength and quick thinking."
Leo's eyes widened. "Spinach helps you play baseball better?"
"Yes! But my people stopped eating it, and soon we forgot our beloved game. Will you teach us again?"
Leo spent the afternoon teaching the pyramid's ghostly inhabitants how to play baseball. To his surprise, the more spinach they ate, the better they played! Their catches became quicker, their throws stronger.
As sunset approached, the old man handed Leo a golden baseball. "Thank you for bringing baseball back to our pyramid. Remember, Leo—sometimes the things we think we hate might be exactly what we need to become our best selves."
Leo returned home with his magical baseball. That night at dinner, when his mother served spinach, Leo ate every bite—and dreamed of pyramids, golden baseballs, and the power of trying new things.
The next morning, Leo hit three home runs in a row. His teammates asked how he'd gotten so good. Leo just winked and whispered, "Eat your spinach!"
