The Girl With Sea-Foam Hair
Maya had the most unusual hair in the whole world. It wasn't brown or black or yellow — it was the color of sea foam, with streaks of blue and green like the ocean on a sunny day. Her hair floated around her face as if it were always underwater, even when she stood perfectly still.
One summer morning, Maya was swimming in the cove near her grandmother's house. She dove deeper than usual, following a flash of silver light. There, resting on the sandy bottom, was a tiny pyramid made of crystal. It glowed with a soft inner light, and when Maya touched it, the pyramid grew bigger and bigger until it was as tall as her house.
Inside the crystal pyramid lived a girl named Coral, with hair like flowing seaweed and eyes that sparkled like pearls.
"I've been waiting for you," Coral said, taking Maya's hand. "Come, let me show you my world."
Together they swam through the pyramid walls into an underwater kingdom where fish sang like birds and jellyfish lit up like lanterns. Maya could breathe underwater, and she and Coral raced through coral forests, chasing sea turtles and counting starfish.
They played for hours until Coral grew sad. "I don't have any friends here," she said. "Everyone in the kingdom is too busy to play with me."
Maya squeezed her friend's hand. "I'll be your friend," she promised. "And I'll come back every day."
Coral smiled and gave Maya a special gift — a tiny crystal pyramid on a silver chain. "Whenever you want to visit, just hold this and think of me."
Now Maya wears the pyramid everywhere. Her sea-foam hair still floats around her face, and every summer day, she goes swimming in the cove to visit her best friend. Because the best adventures are the ones you share with someone else.
