The Girl With Lightning Hair
Lily had always been different. Her brown hair wasn't just brown—it shimmered with tiny sparks whenever a storm approached. Other children laughed. 'Weird hair!' they'd tease. Lily wished she could be normal.
One rainy afternoon, lightning crackled across the sky. Lily sat by her window, watching the storm. Suddenly, something amazing happened. Each lightning bolt made her hair glow brighter and brighter, until she looked like a tiny star!
A scratching sound came from the door. Lily peeked outside and found the scruffiest dog she'd ever seen. His fur was messy, one ear flopped down, and his tail wagged hopefully.
'Hello there,' Lily whispered. The dog's eyes sparkled like he understood everything.
A huge lightning bolt flashed. CRACK! BOOM! Lily's hair blazed with light. But instead of running away, the dog stepped closer. His fur began to shimmer too!
'You're like me!' Lily gasped. The dog nudged her hand, and Lily felt something warm and wonderful—a connection, like they'd been friends forever.
'I'll call you Sparky,' she said. Sparky barked happily.
That night, Lily discovered something magical. When she and Sparky touched during a storm, they could draw pictures in the sky with lightning! They created hearts, stars, even a dog shape that made Sparky bark with joy.
The next day at school, Lily told her classmates. They didn't believe her—until a storm rolled in during recess. Lily and Sparky stood together, and her hair glowed while lightning danced around them, forming the shape of a giant dog in the clouds.
'How did you DO that?' the other kids asked.
'My hair isn't weird,' Lily smiled. 'It's magic. And Sparky helps me use it to make beautiful things.'
From then on, whenever storms came, children gathered to watch Lily and Sparky create lightning art. Lily learned that being different wasn't bad—it was special. And the best magic of all was finding a friend who understood you completely.
Her hair still glowed during storms. But now, Lily wouldn't have it any other way.
